I think it's incumbent on those of use who do research to always ask ourselves, "Is this research so valuable that I would put a fellow citizen in jail if they chose not to fund it?" That's a pretty high standard, but that's the standard in my judgment. Because that's how you are getting your money. And the numbers of research psychologists who actually ask themselves that question, in that fashion, I think is very, very small.
Right message. Wrong messenger. I don't want to detract from the very true words above but Congressman Richard Bairs must have no problem putting his fellow citizens in jail. A sample:
Shout out: Flying Hedgehogs.
This points out something very important to me: The concepts of liberty and a limited government are understood by most people. The problem is with action. As long as people SAY things similar to Bairs, there is hope for change, despite the fact that there's a lot of work to do.
Thanks for the post.

I think Bairs must have been misquoted. Surely he must've said, "Is this research so valuable [to my reelection] that I would put a fellow citizen in jail if they chose not to fund it?"
Expose it.
