Some people say that you can't make a difference by voting. Maybe not but you can have a good time if you live in Wise, Va. The mayor, two cops and 11 other people were charged with buying votes with beer, cigarettes and pork rinds. According to Action News 10:
Prosecutors say once the schemers took power, the police department engaged in drug trafficking, and money and personal possessions were illegally seized from residents.
Wow, corrupt government officials that took money and property from people. Good thing that is isolated to that small town in Virginia. Could you imagine if governments everywhere took money and property from people? It's a scary thought... the government taking money and property from people.
And now for a not-completely random thought: I own the domain TakeOurDemocracyBack.org -- I bought it a long time ago, with the intention of making a sort-of mocking website, that starts out like a pro-democracy call for action, but ends up showing people all the reasons we DON'T want democracy. (Maybe satire, like progressivesagainstprogress; or maybe with some sort of mock-realization on the part of the site's writer...I never did decide.)
