My school is annoying me.

I go to a great school. Very rich in terms of students and money. John Stossel, Ann Margaret, Donald Rumsfeld, and Charleton Heston are alumni. They did something that really pissed me off.

Apparently, teachers were going around myspaces and finding pictures that kids posted of them with beer or pot and suspended them. first of all, none of their business. Second of all, where does the school's involvement occur?

Something I am against but can see the school's place in it is another thing. Since for Facebook kids have to submit their school email addresses, the school does have a place in getting them in trouble, or at least the right. So some kids made a facebook named "I hate [someone at our school]." these kids were suspended and were threatened with expulsion. Sure, the school can techincally do this because the kisd were using the school email addresses, but let's be reasonable, the school really just wanted to police people whenever they could within their jurisdiction. In the words of John Stossel, Give me a break.

Big Brother is watching you...

I really dont think this is the business of the school. For one thing, many of these laws are unjust, such as the drug laws. For another, the school as no jurisdiction.

well, yes. But, since to subscribe to facebook you have to give your school-given email address, I can see how they can justify it as their business. I disagree with it, but it kinda makes sense.

The school given email address being used to sign up to it doesnt give them the right to behave like this.

I cant see your logic in asserting otherwise.

Thats why I personally hate those sites. Most people use them to be ask fake as possible. 90% of the people posting about how they went out and partied so hard they cant remember their weekend, were really at home baby-sitting their siblings.

Hell, one guy had a picture of him laying on the ground "passed" out with beer bottles all around him. But after looking closely, the beer bottles still had caps on them. Not even opened.

And nothing pisses me off more than how schools think have juristiction over our lives outside of school. I remember in elementary school my friend got a detention, for hitting another kid with a snowball, after school, off school grounds. Not as major as the above, but an example of how this shit starts at a young age.

Im not sure about the high school version of facebook, but the college version is a lot more "real".

Most of the pictures my friends have arent like that, and most that are, I was actually at the party/wherever where it took place.

People will get wasted, that's life.

I know people get wasted, but lying about it is sad. I was talking about MySpace really. At any rate, I have no real interest in giving away my personal details on web-sites. Yes, that includes this one even.

I agree, no need to lie about it.

However, if you want to keep your identity secret...be careful not to annoy anyone. ;)
