Teachers in North Texas will be allowed to protect their students. ()
Rather than leaving the protection of students and teachers in the hands of off-site police officers, the community of Harold, Texas will allow its teachers to carry concealed firearms to allow them to protect their own school.

When asked to defend his school board's plan to allow teachers to carry guns, the superintendent replied:

'When the federal government started making schools gun-free zones, that's when all of these shootings started. Why would you put it out there that a group of people can't defend themselves? That's like saying "sic em" to a dog,'

Some Quebec youth calling for higher tuition fees ()
The youth wing of a political party in Quebec is calling for tuition rates to be doubled or tripled to fall in line with the national average of $6000/year. At least it's a step in the right direction.








Another way to approach homeland security
I'm curious to hear what crashers have to say about this plan to deal with fighting terrorism in America. Obviously it's still a state-based solution, but I think it would definitely be an improvement.

oil profits are good.
If profits from oil went freely to private industry, they would be reinvested in an attempt to maximize wealth further. When governments control oil and when oil companies must pay off government to stay in business or to drive away competition, governments can use that money for whatever they want - and all too often what they want is to oppress people.
