Government Suddenly Cares About Debt?

Forgive me if I question the sincerity of the current administration’s concern for government debt. It would have been one thing had Obama addressed this problem months ago. Sadly, bureaucrats have a short memory.

Instead, months ago, Obama and Rahm Emanuel were telling the American people that we were in a crisis like nothing we had ever seen, and it could only be averted by spending over $1 Trillion on some amorphous stimulus package. The money that was tracked was spent on political party pet projects, and the rest appears now to have been spent on congressional districts that do not exist. Good thing these people want to take over 1/6 of the economy!

It really makes one wonder what is the actual purpose of a free press if the government is able to get away with this? First, the fact that the stimulus money was either spent on bureaucracy, lost or stolen proves that it had no impact other than benefiting politicians. Second, at the very minimum the press should hold any individuals who claim to stand for fiscal restraint to task.

I won’t hold my breath.
