Bureaucrash Bulletin: February 16, 2009
Crashers,
A few days ago we passed the 2,000 crasher mark on Bureaucrash Social! It’s pretty badass to know there are so many other freedom fighters out there. Much love to those of you that have challenged others to replace their apathy and pro-collectivism views with those of self-ownership and individual rights.
We’ve had visitors to that site from 99 countries. To show the diversity of people active on Bureaucrash Social and the universality of the idea that people should be free to act so long as they don’t initiate force against another, check out this list that shows the top-50 visitors-by-city (thanks Google Analytics!): Washington, Chicago, Madrid, Arlington, Bloomington, Bristol, Vienna, Omaha, Oakton, Coos Bay, Austin, Chesapeake, New York, Bratislava, Portland, Savage, Columbus, Lexington, Virginia Beach, Indianapois, Vaduz, Clemson, Madison, Broken Arrow, Newark, Manchester, Branson, Northridge, Durham, Alexandria, Takoma Park, Roanoke, Englewood, Newcastle, Gulfport, San Francisco, Hampden Sydney, Los Angeles, Harrisburg, Ellicott City, Carbondale, Boulder, Thermopolis, Newport News, Minneapolis, Brooklyn, Milldale, Fresno, Anchorage and Prague.
Welcome to AZ, J. Nick Puglia, John Markley, Liberty Pile, shelly and Surrealpolichick who will be helping to spread the word by blogging on Bureaucrash.com.

Congrats to Crasher Reese Moore, whose “I supported Liberty before it was cool” entry beat out other Contraband submissions. For his efforts, Reese will receive $100, three t-shirts, and have his profile featured on Bureaucrash Social for the rest of the month.

Since the last Bulletin Xaq has released three excellent Podcrashes. In the first, he spoke with Robert R. Arthur, a lawyer turned educator turned author, about his book “You Will Die: The Burden of Modern Taboos,” about which Mike Riggs over at the Washington City Paper said “If you only listen to one podcast today, let it be this one. It’s that good.”

In the second Podcrash, Xaq spoke with Crasher Jesse, a Free Stater and principled activist that found himself facing the force of the State after he chose not to remove his hat in a courtroom.

And in the third he and Crispin Sartwell, author of “Against the State: An Introduction to Anarchist Political Theory” talk about types of anarchism and why attempts to justify the State are flawed.

I just uploaded a half-dozen videos for a series we’re calling Crashing the Transaction Costs to help you introduce others to Bureaucrash and the ideas we proffer. Episodes thus far touch on Badges, Craiglist, Location, MeetUp, PSA and Wiki. Check them out, act on them and if you have ideas for other CTTC videos please let me know.

A couple of weeks ago I sat down with the folks at the Libertarian Party for a little Q&A to introduce folks in their network to Bureaucrash. Comments – both pro and con are appreciated.

CPAC. We’re going to plant a flag – to encourage attendees that claim to be about freedom to ditch their love of Big Government and embrace the perspective that advocates freedom on all issues at all times. If you’re going and have a few hours to help man Bureaucrash’s table let me know and we’ll hook you up with a shirt.. And don’t forget about The CPAC Underground happy hour event (open to those in/around DC).

If you’re coming from out of town and need a place to crash, the good folks at Campaign for Liberty and Young Americans for Liberty have rented out a house and are extending the $30/night offer to crashers. Interested? Hit up my friend Allison at: allison [at] campaignforliberty [dot] com
And if you’re looking to get connected to some of the most successful and principled on-the-ground activists and moves-and-shakers, I strongly suggest you join me and other crashers at the Free State Project’s Liberty Forum. Our friends at the FSP love crashers so much they’ve provided a code to get 10% off the registration cost: 2009CRASH (and if you’re a student you can register for half-off).

A few weeks back I was able to spend time connecting with some of Chicagoland crashers. Good times. And thanks to Crasher Arno for taking some pics:

Keep fighting the good fight!

P.S. For those of you following my latest encounter with the Arlington Co. PD, I had a sit-down meeting with a Lt. last week. The parking issue will be investigated by one officer and the stalking issue by another officer. They have 30 days to complete the investigation per their internal policy. If you’re wondering what the hell I’m talking about check out this post:
