TIME.COM reports on "The Hidden Danger of Seatbelts":
If there’s one thing we know about our risky world, it’s that seat belts save lives, right? And they do, of course. But reality, as usual, is messier and more complicated than that. John Adams, risk expert and emeritus professor of geography at University College London, was an early skeptic of the seat belt safety mantra. Adams first began to look at the numbers more than 25 years ago. What he found was that contrary to conventional wisdom, mandating the use of seat belts in 18 countries resulted in either no change or actually a net increase in road accident deaths.
Another hidden danger? The loss of the freedom to put your own life in your own hands.

What do Cops fear most? It turns out it isn’t being killed on the job, as insight reports, it is being sued.
Police Chief Jeff Chudwin of Olympia Fields, Ill. Said at a police convention that “"Some officers today are more afraid of being sued than being murdered, “ and the actions of numerous officers have created additional victims of crimes.
He unfortunately lamented that police now avoid using lethal force even when it is legal and justified, and that officer safety is more important than suspect safety. The prize winning part of the article:
He presented videos of a plainclothes officer slashed by a knife-wielding suspect during a struggle. The officer gave his pistol to his colleague when trying to subdue the suspect. Mr. Chudwin said the officer, slashed in the face and neck, was afraid his gun would discharge during the struggle.
"He gets praised by the media for showing restraint, but what he did makes my skin crawl," Mr. Chudwin said. "Why didn’t he shove the muzzle in the suspect’s eye and pull the trigger?"
This man and his attitude are SICK. He goes on to say that police should not have to worry about being sude for their actions. I am glad to see the most important people to the police are the police.

Dr. Harry Burns claims that a smoking ban in 'Public' Places will 'virtually eradicate lung cancer in 20 years.
"Imagining Scotland with no lung cancer is not trivial speculation.” said the Doctor adding “In the 1960s, one in 100 men died of lung cancer. [...] Today, rates are falling all the time and thanks to the smoking ban, I expect the reduction in deaths to accelerate until dying from the disease becomes a rare occurrence.
"Anecdotal evidence shows that since the smoking ban, there has been a surge in the numbers of smokers seeking help to give up."
Freedom Organisation for the Right to Enjoy Smoking Tobacco (Forest) spokesperson Neil Rafferty sees otherwise, accusing the Doctor of painting a completely misleading picture.” Rafferty went on to say “The evidence from other countries shows that smoking bans have no significant effect on smoking rates," he said.
"Secondly, there is no conclusive evidence that lung cancer is caused by second hand smoke.
"We should really expect better of Dr Burns than to go around making such ludicrous claims."
From the Article:
Mr Rafferty said that by claiming such good results from the policy, the public could be misled into entrusting politicians with more power over people's lives.
Well Said Mr. Rafferty, Well Said.

The Hungarian government has approved legislation that places strict regulations on all Genetically modified crops (aka Frankenfood.) While the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, biotechnology firms, and even many farmers fought this law the government bowed down to the scare tactics of environmentalists, who would rather see people DIE than take the chance of eating food that grows in harsher conditions or offers additional health benefits. The law, which place restrictions on where and how GM crops are grown is also being used as a piece of legal activism to combat plans by the EU to allow the expansion of modified crops in Europe.

When 14 year old Martin Lee Anderson took his grandmothers car out for a joyride one day after church he didn’t know he would end up with a death sentence. He was busted, and ordered to spend some time in a boot camp style juvenile detention center, he didn’t spend much time there though as he died of suffocation after being beaten by 7 guards. They guards, in an attempt to get him to continue exercising after collapsing from exhaustion punched him at least 14 times and put him in military style pain submission holds. After initialing blaming the boys death on natural causes from an illegal autopsy, a second autopsy revealed he suffocated on ammonia fumes because his mouth was held closed while they attempted to wake him with ammonia inhalant capsules.
The 7 guards and Nurse have all been arrested and face charges of “aggravated manslaughter of a person under 18 “ I hope they get what is coming to them in prison. They murdered a non-violent offender , and if weren’t for a second autopsy and a grainy video of the beating, they would have gotten away with it.
This kind of violence is pervasive in a our prison system, especially in these boot camp style centers, how many are abused or die without anyone noticing?

Newt Gingrich announced Monday that the first amendment goes too far in protecting “terrorist” ability to spread their ideas, and recruit people on Internet. Campaign Finance laws, however, excessively limit HIS freedom of speech, yet don’t go far enough to stop attack adds.
This guy is ALL OVER the map, you can talk with money, but not mean, and you can’t talk about bad stuff. As with most enemies of freedom, he quickly resorted to fear mongering to justify his attacks on the freedom of speech saying “We need to get ahead of the curve before we actually lose a city, which I think could happen in the next decade, “
The best? This speech was made at an awards banquet honoring those who protect and defend the first amendment.

…Conservation of private land from 2000 to 2005 averaged 2.6 million acres a year—about half the size of New Jersey, according to the Land Trust Alliance, which represents 1,200 of the USA’s 1,667 local, state and national land trusts.
This means additional land protected each year exceeds the 2.2 million acres that the Agriculture Department has estimated is converted annually to "developed land."
It seems privately owned land is the most surefire means to conservation. I’m not much in the know about acquiring land, but it makes me wonder why conservation groups don’t just raise funds to purchase land they aim to protect rather than petitioning the government to do it through new laws. This way the land is in the hands of knowledgeable individuals, which will ensure mindful and efficient management, and it’s not left vulnerable to the change in conservation policies with each new administration.
Is the federal government typically willing to give up federally owned land to private investors?

Feeling in the holiday mood? Want to help those less fortunate by providing food and nourishment from your own kitchen?
BUUUUUZZZZZZ
Fairfax, VA cRATS have forced shut the doors to churches and other entities that want to provide the homeless an illegal HOME COOKED MEAL.
"Under state and county code, food served to the public must be prepared in a kitchen that has been certified by the county Health Department. Among other things, certification requires a commercial-grade refrigerator, a three-compartment sink to wash, rinse and sanitize dishes and a separate hand-washing sink."
Maybe it’s me, but churches and shelters offering these services are often in the poorest areas of cities and can’t afford those things. Which is funny, because that’s also where the fucking homeless live.
Good job guys. Remember, if we don’t gun down little old ladies in no-knock warrants and close down soup-kitchens the terrorists have already won.

What is liberty? If liberty is, as some claim, simply another man-made concept like socialism or communism, then the only virtue liberty has is that it might benefit you personally at some point and be preferable to some other system. Other man-made concepts certainly enjoy this status; i.e it might be personally beneficial for you to live off the state and allow others to pay for your life. Why not? Seen in this context, liberty is no more inherently virtuous than any other way of living , and it gets lost among the maddening crowd of ideas shouting for attention and vying for a position in the hearts of men.
But if liberty is, as the American Founders understood, a right bestowed upon you by your Creator, it becomes a very different thing indeed. The right to make your own decisions and chart your own destiny, coupled with accountability for your decisions becomes a very very special thing. Liberty becomes a sacred thing and to dole it away for a bit of comfort or a bit of security is an affront both to your own personal self-worth and your Maker. It is a curious sort of self-inflicted and self-directed ingratitude.
If you understand the source of liberty, it casts the fight for it in a different light. Liberty is worth fighting for because it is part of the divine spark that sets us apart from the animals. Liberty is worth fighting for because it is a most precious and benevolent gift. Liberty is worth fighting for because you were born free and your whole life other people will try to throw chains on you. As C.H.Spurgeon said " A man who hugs his chains cannot stand the sight of a free man." Make it a point to be a thorn in the side of those who would steal away from you this most inalienable right.
