January Playlist

Posted on January 11th, 2006 by Jason in Bureaucrash HQ

It’s been a good month for music since it’s only the 11th of January and I’ve already maxed out my top 15 for my monthly playlist. 15 is an arbitrary number that I used for last month’s list so I’ll stick with it. The original idea was to create a top 10 but there is so much good music out there that I had to expand it. Without further adieu here is what has been flowing through mt headphones during the month of January:

"Rebellion (Lies)" by The Arcade Fire

"Jettsetter" by Morningwood

"Cliche Guevara" by Against Me!

"Portions For Foxes" by Kilo Riley

"In the Waiting Line" by Zero 7

"Strange by Built" to Spill

"No One Really Wins" by Copeland

"My Kind of Soldier" by Guided by Voices

"Naked As We Came" by Iron and Wine

"Club Foot" by Kasabian

"Fluke" by Mates of State

"Oh!" by Sleater-Kinney

"I Predict A Riot" by the Kaiser Chiefs

"Nth Degree" by Morningwood

Rebellion was introduced to me months ago by Crasher HayekFan but Yahoo! Music Engine just added it. The two Morningwood songs are interesting because a friend and I each received one of their t-shirts and CDs when we attended the Bliss Dance Party. It received a collective yawn from us and I never listened to the CD or wore the shirt. It was a small anyway and I’m clearly a boys husky (I’m not but that is the funniest size ever). I later discovered them on my own and have enjoyed them ever since. Crasher VoteRando introduced me to the punk sound of Against Me! and I hope to write about them for our new Ministry of Culture soon. When Crasher InvoluntaryServant played the Kaiser Chiefs for me during our Crash Across America I wasn’t impressed but “I Predict a Riot” is great. “Club Foot” provides the beat you can use to shake your ass and to slow things down we have Copeland’s beautiful “No One Really Wins.”
